Story of Cypress: A Boy with Cerebral Palsy Who Defies His Prognoses
Jun 10, 2025At three months, Amy and Sean (Cypress’ parents) were told that he should be doing more. They were also told by his neurologist that Cypress would never walk or talk. At three months, Cypress started traditional physical therapy. For the next six months, they saw little change.
At nine months old, Cypress began Anat Baniel Method® (ABM) NeuroMovement® lessons. Amy and Sean stopped doing all traditional therapies with Cypress and watched his extraordinary progress. Cypress continues to receive lessons from ABM NeuroMovement® Practitioners.
Dr. Neil Sharp, an ABM Center Practitioner, gave Cypress his first lesson, in which he rolled over for the first time. At 14 months old, he began to crawl and explore his world. At 19 months, Cypress was pulling to standing. Then, he learned to climb up stairs.
At three-and-a-half years old, Cypress started walking and now he rarely stops talking.
“Going to see the neurologist is like visiting the office of limitations, and I would rather come here to the center for possibilities.”
—Amy, Cypress’ Mom
